How Vegetables Grow

While James was on his way to meet his friends, he saw old Mr. Burt working in the vegetable garden. He realized that Mr. Burt looked sad and asked him the reason. Mr. Burt replied, “We will not be able to use this ground for long. A new building will be here very soon!” James was shocked. He had heard stories from Mr. Burt that many dwarfs worked hard to grow vegetables. He wondered, ‘What will happen to the poor dwarfs?’ James was very disturbed. The next morning, he went over to the vegetable garden. A huge digger was already at work but James could not find any dwarfs. James was puzzled. He met the greengrocer and asked him about the dwarfs. The greengrocer laughed and said, “There are no dwarfs. I will tell you how vegetables grow. You will find it very exciting.”
