William and the Black Stallion

Prince William waited to begin his horse-riding classes. The riding instructor, Patrick, came with a handsome black stallion. Strangely, William was terrified of the stallion and ran away. Patrick learnt that a witch’s black cat had attacked William when he was very young. This made him feel scared of dark-coloured animals. Patrick decided to help William. He brought a black puppy. Patrick held William’s hand and slowly glided his palm over the soft fur of the puppy. When the puppy licked William’s hand lovingly, he felt less fearful. Patrick said, “William, the rein on the stallion is magical. Till you hold it tight, the stallion will not harm you.” William believed Patrick and held the rein tight, and galloped through the forest. But, the rein was not magical. It was Patrick’s confidence that made the stallion gallop. Gradually, William overcame his fear for dark animals and was able to ride the stallion with pride.
