Trees to Plant

The school had organized a tree planting day. The children were excited to plant trees. Mr. Saddler was in charge of the planting. The trees were brought in. Then the stakes were put otherwise the first gust of wind could easily uproot a tiny tree. Then, fences were put all around the trees to stop cats scratching at the thin bark. Then, straw was put around the foot of the trees to keep the roots warm during the winter. An excited Peter asked Mr. Saddler, “How long will the tree take to grow into a full-sized tree?” Mr. Saddler replied, “Fifteen to twenty years.” “Oh!” exclaimed Peter, “We will all be grown up by then!” Mr. Saddler agreed but said, “When you see children or perhaps your own children playing around these trees, you will be proud of planting them!”
