The Treasure

A farmer was ploughing his land when he saw a goblin. The farmer was happy as the goblin was always associated with treasure. The farmer asked the goblin, “Have you buried some treasure in my field?” The cunning goblin replied, “Yes! Lots of it!” The farmer said, “Since you have buried the treasure in my field, I wish to have half of it.” The goblin replied, “Sure! But there is a condition. You will have to give me half of your harvest for two years. The part which is on top will be mine and the one below the ground would be yours.” The farmer understood that the goblin was very clever. But the farmer was cleverer. He planted potatoes for two years, so the goblin had to take the leaves while the farmer took the potatoes. After two years, the farmer reminded the goblin about his promise. The goblin gave him the treasure.
