The Statue of Lion

Jack and Jim were friends. They played together and cared for each other. There was a park near Jack’s house. In the centre of the park, there was the statue of a lion carved in stone. The statue looked so real as if it was about to spring to life. Jack and Jim always looked at the statue in awe. Jim often joked that the stone lion would surely jump off the pedestal one day. One afternoon in the park, both boys ran to the statue only to see an empty pedestal. The stone lion was now standing on the ground. “Look Jack; I was right! The stone lion jumped off the pedestal!” Jim was brimming with excitement. The gardener near by heard him and said, “Oh no, the pedestal is being repaired. That’s why we moved the lion!” The boys laughed and went to play.
