26th January is celebrated as the Republic Day every year. The main celebrations are held in New Delhi. The President unfurls the tricolour. Then a colourful procession starts from the Vijay Chowk near the Secretariat and ends at the Red Fort after passing through the main streets of Delhi. Platoons of army, navy and air-force march before the dais. The President, the Chief Guest and other guests sit on the dais. The President takes the salute. Tanks, missiles and other weapons are displayed. The school children present colourful programmes. The tableaus from different states roll out.
