The Naughty Nelly

Long time ago, there lived a very naughty boy called Nelly. He was a cause of trouble for all. He chased the girls and pulled their hair; he swore at old and young. Even the poor harmless birds were not spared. He hit them with stones and broke their wings. His poor mother spent her days worrying over what would become of her child. “Son, you should be a good and kind boy; otherwise the goblins will punish you,” his mother would often say. But Nelly was deaf to his mother’s words and continued with his bad ways. One morning, while he was alone, playing in the garden, the goblins came. They took him away to a faraway place. They pinched his cheeks and pulled his ears. Nelly howled in pain. He begged to be taken to his mother promising to be good boy. The goblin spoke sternly, showing Nelly what a bad boy he had been. From that day, Nelly was a changed boy. He never troubled others and always listened to his mother.
