Tolstoy Tom was a greedy tom-cat. He roamed about here, there and everywhere in search of left-over foodstuff. When he found nothing anywhere, he would wait for hours for the neighbours to place their trash outside. He would slurp tasty tit-bits from it. Eating infected left-over food often made him sick. Many a time he needed to be taken to the vet. But Tolstoy Tom never learnt his lesson. One day, he found a group of alley cats eating away from the trash can. ‘Oh, this is the best opportunity for me. I must join them,’ thought Tolstoy Tom. He snuggled up to them as usual to grab a bite to eat. When the alley cats saw him, they began to chase him. Tolstoy Tom ran for safety. With great difficulty, he found a place to hide. From then on, Tolstoy Tom stopped being greedy for food.
