Living in desert mountains are Panamint alligator lizards that are yellow with broad brown crossbands. Covered in smooth scales they have long tails almost twice their body length and strong jaws. They require a permanent water source such as streams or springs, and hide under rocks and boulders. Their diet is made of crickets, moths, larvae of beetle and grasshoppers.
