Contrary to its name, the golden frog is a toad that is golden yellow with black markings. The bright colouration warns predators of its potent skin toxin. Found near fast-flowing streams of rainforests, they are active in the day and prey upon insects, spiders and millipedes. They communicate by waving their hands and feet. Their average life span is 12 years.
