The axolotl can live both on land and in water but prefer staying under water its whole life. They look like overgrown larvae as they don’t lose their larval features like external gills and tail fins. These aquatic salamanders feed on molluscs, worms, insects’ larvae, crustaceans and fish. They live up to 15 years.
