Liquid Soap

It was the year after 1800s, which saw the arrival of liquid soap in the market. Patented by William Shepphard on 22 August, 1865, the first liquid soap was manufactured only in the year 1898 by a firm called as B.J. Johnson Soap Company whose first liquid soap was named Palmolive. Although a company, called Minnetonka Corporation took away the pumping mechanism of liquid soap before the year 1898 and marketed its liquid soap before it was taken over by Colgate. The first liquid soap was made of a mixture of olive oil and palm oil, and therefore, the name Palmolive.

The invention of actual soap dates back to 2200 BC when the Egyptians used to make soap bars. But, it was in the 1886, that the now called firm ‘Unilever’ started making soap in a small workshop. Unilever was run by two brothers who also started successful advertising campaign of the soap.
