An upturned snout is unique to the venomous Lataste’s viper. It is grey in colour with a triangular head and a dark zig-zag pattern running down its entire length. They prey on reptiles, mammals, frogs, birds and even other Lataste’s vipers. The terrestrial vipers inhabit moist, rocky woodlands, dry shrublands and coastal dunes.
