The Lorius garrulous (scientific name) or chattering lory is a forest-dwelling parrot which is a local of North Maluku, Indonesia. At 12 inches length, this bird is mostly red in colour with an orange red beak and wings that are green with a yellow shaft at an angle on them. Their diet includes fruits, pollen, plantation and most importantly nectar. These birds are almost always found in pairs. A clutch-size of 2 eggs on an average are produced and incubated for 26 days. They are playful and mischievous little birds, but are major attention seekers too. If kept as pets, they get aggressive when they feel that someone else is getting more attention than they. Its IUCN listing is VULNERABLE.
