Asian Fairy Bluebird

The Irena puella (scientific name) or Asian fairy bluebird is a medium-sized bird found in the tropical forests of Southern Asia, from the foothills of the Himalayas, across India and Sri Lanka till the Philippines. These birds are a lot like bulbuls, but only in size and shape. About 10.6 inches in length, the Asian fairy bluebirds have brighter colouration, with the male being a deep iridescent blue and lighter blue plumage, and the female being a duller green. The irises are startling orange colour. These birds diet includes fruits, nectar and insects. Breeding takes place from February to April, with a clutch-size of 2 eggs incubated for 14 days by one or both the parents. Its IUCN listing is the LEAST CONCERN.
