Shelly lived with her grandfather. One night, there was a fierce storm outside. Shelly was very frightened. She quickly ran to her grandfather’s room and clung to him. She said, “Grandpa, I am feeling scared.” “There is no need to be scared. You are quite safe in here,” said Grandpa. Indeed, Shelly did feel safe. But all of a sudden, the lights went out. Now, Shelly was scared again. But Grandpa said, “Do not worry. Hold still.” Then there was a small sound and a little light started to glow. Grandpa had lighted some candles. Shelly was happy and relieved to see light. It was not such a scary night after all. Grandpa and Shelly sat together. Grandpa told her many stories. After some hours the lights came back. But Shelly and her grandfather did not switch on the lights. They enjoyed candlelight.
