Interesting fact : The patterns on the edge of the shell are used to gauge their age as they fade with time.

Conservation status : Vulnerable

They are also called ‘sawback turtles’ due to the saw-like projections running down their backs. Slow-moving streams with sand or clay bottoms are their favourite and so are insects, fish and even fresh greens. Average life span of these turtles is 15 to 25 years.
