Identical twins share the same genetics and DNA. However, they have small differences that might occur in the womb environment. Not every aspect of our physical appearance is determined by our genes. When a single fertilized egg splits in two after conception, twins are born who share the same DNA. Chance fluctuations of hormone level of the mother could also result in differences in fingerprints, patterns of freckles and moles on the skin among other things. The environmental factors during pregnancy such as nutrition, blood pressure and position in the womb can result in differences in fingerprints of twins.
