Why are some eggs white and some brown?

It depends on the hens which have laid eggs. Most white-feathered hens lay white eggs. Brown eggs usually come from red-feathered hens with red earlobes, but there are also other types of chickens. Some of them lay white eggs, some brown eggs and some spotted eggs. However, there are some breeds of hens that live in South America; they are known as ‘Ameraucana’; they lay blue eggs.
