The Ashmolean Museum is Britain’s first public museum. It is the oldest university museum in the world. In 1677, it received its first collection, the cabinet of curiosities, from Elias Ashmole. The museum finished its collection in 1683. It has the world-famous collection ranges from Egyptian mummies to contemporary art. Its collections represent most of the world’s great civilizations. The objects date from 8000 BC to the present day.
