Where is the Taj Mahal?

The Taj Mahal is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, in India. Its name means ‘crown of palaces’. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is made of white marble and is 171 metres (561 feet) tall. The construction of the Taj Mahal took around 20 years. It has a large white dome called an ‘onion dome’. It is surrounded by 4 smaller domes. The Taj Mahal complex includes a large garden, a reflecting pool, a mosque and other mausoleums.
