Long ago, people in China had never seen an elephant. One day, the Chinese Emperor received a gift–an elephant! People were amazed to see it and everyone was curious to know how heavy the elephant was. But no scales were big enough to weigh the elephant. None knew how to weigh it. All of sudden, the prince came forward to weigh it. The officials thought that the prince was joking but he gave a brilliant idea!
“Father, please provide a big boat in the river. Raise the elephant into the boat. Then, draw a line on the boat where it sinks. Next, remove the elephant. After that, put bricks into the boat, until the sign we already made in the boat-body, be drowned into the river. Then, take out the bricks from the boat and weigh them.” Everyone praised the prince and the Emperor was proud of him.
