Tianchi is a beautiful alpine lake located in the northwest region of China. Tianchi, which literally means Heavenly Lake, lies on the north side of the range known as the Bogda Shan (meaning Mountain of God). The lake was formerly known as Yaochi (meaning the Jade Lake). True to that name, the beautiful Tianchi is a crescent-shaped jade coloured drift lake nestled in the Quarternary Glacier.
