The Wazir of Al-Yaman and his Young Brother

Badr Al-Din, the Wazir of Al-Yaman, kept a strict watch over his younger brother of remarkable beauty. He employed a Sheikh tutor for him and lodged him in their neighbouring house.

After a few days, the old man accumulated love for the youth and shared his feelings with him. The two decided to meet at the parapet of the terrace-roof when the boy’s elder brother was fast asleep and sit together for some time.

The following night the lad waited for his brother to fall asleep and then went to the parapet of the terrace-roof, only to find the old man waiting for him for drinks. With the moonlit shining, the governor began singing.

While they were marrying, the Wazir awoke and finding his brother missing with the door open, he went up to the roof and found his brother and his tutor at carouse. Hearing the Sheikh’s couplets while enjoying their drinks with the fear of the big brother not seeing them, the Wazir melted down and went back to his room, leaving them to their diversions.
