The Naive Shepherd

A shepherd used to take his flock of sheep to the fields to graze. One day, the shepherd saw a wolf looking at his sheep. But the wolf did not come near the sheep. When the shepherd took the sheep home, the wolf quietly followed them at a distance. This continued for many days. By and by, the shepherd started trusting the wolf. The shepherd began to look upon the wolf as a guardian of his flock. One day, the shepherd was called home urgently. Leaving the sheep entirely in charge of the wolf, he left. When he came back, he found that the wolf had eaten most of his sheep. The shepherd exclaimed, “God has serve me right for trusting the wolf.”
