A group of monkeys always troubled the animals that came to drink from the lake of the forest. One day, a herd of zebras was drinking water from the lake. As usual, the monkeys started throwing twigs at them. One of the mares came with her little foal. The twig hurt her leg badly. As the other zebras dressed her wound, the foal started crying. Seeing this, a young zebra stallion said, “Monkeys, why do you trouble innocent animals? Don’t you see that the animals could be wounded?” The monkeys only laughed and teased them. The angry stallion lifted a monkey and placed him on a hot rock. This burnt his buttocks and legs. Then, the stallion kicked another monkey so hard that he went flying to the other end of the lake. The rest of the monkeys ran away and never came back to the lake again. Since that day, they stopped playing tricks on other animals.
