Once, a farmer was working in the field. Suddenly an injured bird fell near his leg. Firstly he got frightened, but he controlled his emotions and picked up the injured bird and took it home. His wife got angry to see him and said to him, “Hardly have we little food to eat and you have brought another mouth to feed.” Every day, the farmer would feed the bird with grains and tend to its injuries. Soon the bird recovered. One day, the farmer came home and saw the bird had flown away. The heartbroken farmer went in search of the bird. Soon, he came to the bird’s colony.
The bird was happy to see him. The other birds thanked him for nursing their friend and as a token of their love, gave him a box. The farmer took the box to his wife. When she opened the box, she found wonderful jewels inside. She was very happy and no longer scolded him for tending to the bird.
