The taipan is a group of highly venomous snakes. Three different species of taipans are recognised. They are one of Australia’s largest venomous snakes that are 3 metres long. They live in grasslands, coasts, grassy beaches and cane fields. Their diet is made of rats, lizards, bandicoots and small mammals. They live for 15 years.
