These deer can bark for almost an hour. In the Nilgiri, where they are found, they have been known to feed on tea seeds. The muntjac has an upper canine which is curved outward. Only males have antlers; females have small bony knobs instead. Their diet consists of leaves, grasses, shoots, and fallen fruit.
