Simon Fraser II was born on 20th May 1776 in Hoosick, Province of New York, British America, and he died on 18th August 1862 (aged 86 years) in Saint. Andrews West, Canada. Simon was an explorer who has explored and chartered most of the British Columbia region of Canada. He is also credited with establishing the first ever European settlement in British Columbia. He discovered and explored a river which now bears his name ‘Fraser River’. He was a fur trader by trade, a job in which he was very successful and became a full partner in his company by the age of 25. In this capacity, he established various trading posts and explored new areas to extend their trade route.
