The Atrichornis (scientific name) or scrubbird is an extremely rare species of bird found only in 2 parts of Australia. This species has 2 types of birds, one found in tropical forests of Queensland and New South Wales, and the other found in the heaths on the West coast of Australia. Both the species are 7.8 inches in length, and have dull grey brown plumage. They have strong legs, which make them better runners, than flyers. Their diet is comprised of food they can forage off the ground, such as invertebrates like beetles, worms, bugs, etc. An average clutch has 1 egg, incubated for 36-38 days. The IUCN listing for the rufous scrubbird and noisy scrubbird is VULNERABLE and ENDANGERED respectively.
