Every year, a Ramlila troupe from Varanasi performed in Vijaynagar but one particular year, they denied since the troupe members were sick. There was no time to call some other troupe and, hence, Tenali said he would call another troupe from a nearby village.
When the troupe performed, everyone praised their skills extensively as most of the members of the troupe were children. The king delighted, invited them to a royal feast and asked where they were from.
On this, Tenali said they were from a nearby village and on asking which one he kept quiet. Then a small boy spoke up saying that all the children were from Vijaynagar only and it was Tenali who taught them to act in just three days so that they might perform at the festival. Hearing this, the king was very pleased and rewarded Tenali for his skilful training of the troupe.
