Named after its location, the peaks of otter salamander is slender and black with metallic flecking down its entire length. They live in forests at 550 metres above the sea level and hide under logs, rocks and leaf litter. Insects make up their meal. They become active after a spell of rain and breed in summer producing about 10 young ones.
