Natural Disasters

Natural disasters are adverse events of Nature which cause huge damage to the lives of the people and the natural habitat. The reasons behind these events are the changes that happen deep inside the Earth and on its surface. Natural disasters are categorised into three major categories:

Disasters caused by the movement of the Earth’s surface and related tectonic plates: for example, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis.

Disasters related to weather: for example, snowstorm, avalanche, hurricanes, tornadoes, extreme heat and extreme cold.

Disasters that arise as a consequence of extreme weather events: for example, flood, landslides, famine, forest fire, etc.
