Mini Organisms (Biology Experiments)

The intention of this experiment is to test the result of preservatives on bacterial growth.
Things Required:
Table salt
White vinegar
3 small clear glasses
1 chicken bouillon cube
1 measuring cup (250 ml)
1 measuring spoon -teaspoon (5 ml)
Masking tape
Marking pen

Directions:
Dissolve the bouillon cube in one cup (250 ml) of hot water from the faucet. Equally divide the solution between the three glasses. Add 1 spoon of salt to one of the glasses and label the glass salt as shown in the diagram; make the label with the masking tape.
Add 1 spoon of vinegar to the second glass and label it vinegar. The last glass is to be labelled control because it will not contain a preservative. Place the three glasses in a warm place for 2 days. Which glass is cloudier?
This Is What Happens:
The solution containing vinegar is clearer than the others. The control is the most cloudy.
Science Behind It:
The cloudiness is due to the presence of large quantities of bacteria. The glasses containing preservatives are clearer than the control because the preservatives inhibit, slow down, the growth of bacteria. Vinegar seems to have inhibited the bacterial growth the best.
