Metallic minerals contain metallic elements which can be melted to form new products. These minerals are obtained from mines in raw form, called ores (metal + impurities). To extract metals from these ores, they are physically and chemically processed. There are about 2800 known minerals on the Earth. Each one is a unique substance with its own chemical formula.
