Kings river slender salamander is a small and slender salamander that is 3.2 to 3.5 cm long. It is shiny black with a tan dorsal stripe. The head is large with a distinct neck. These lungless salamanders respire through their skins. Usually found under debris, rocks and logs, they feed on a variety of insects they catch with their retractable tongues.
