The slender salamander is found in the Inyo Mountains in California. Growing to about 6 cm, they have large eyes and are heavily speckled making them appear silvery. Moist areas surrounded by deserts are ideal thriving spots for these night-loving creatures that hide under rocks and moist sand. They feed on small insects and live for 7 to 10 years.
