Mint Dog stayed with his mother in the farmhouse. One day, there was no moon in the sky. It was a dark night. Mint Dog crept out into the farmyard. But his mother had warned him to stay indoors till he was old enough to go out at night. But he was impatient and did not listen. Somewhere an owl hooted. ‘Just an owl,’ a nervous Mint told himself. As he walked further, he could hear strange sounds from all sides. Then, all of a sudden, Mint stopped in his tracks. He saw two eyes shining in the darkness. Mint thought it was the fox but to his surprise it was his mother. He was relieved. Mother said to Mint, “Go inside! Why did you not listen to me?” Mint got scared and apologized immediately. Mint would really have to wait a long time to go out alone.
