Hanuman Finds Lord Shaligram’s Idol

Once, Hanuman was returning from the Himalayas after placing Drongiri at its original place. On his way back, Hanuman thought of resting for a while. He took his bath in river Ghantaki. While he was coming out of the river, he saw an idol of Lord Shaligram (a form of Lord Vishnu). Hanuman thought of taking the idol with him. It symbolised Lord Shaligram’s blessing to him. He then flew back towards Lanka to join Ram. On the way, he crossed a pilgrimage centre named Kamal Tirth. He thought, ‘It is almost evening. I need to perform my prayers. But how can I do it holding this Shaligram’s idol? I know it should not be kept on the ground.’ So, Hanuman started searching for a suitable person. He could not leave the idol on the ground. He started roaming here and there, but could not find anyone.
