Tenali got to learn about a dishonest money lender who charged ten times the interest for his loans, so he decided to teach the lender a lesson. He asked to borrow two large vessels and paid three gold coins as rent.
Next day, Tenali returned them with two smaller vessels saying the large vessels were pregnant and had given birth to two small vessels at night.
The lender was happy and, hence, the next time Tenali came, he gave him a cart full of vessels saying they were all pregnant and, hence, he should take care of them well. But when Tenali didn’t return them after many days, he asked the reason.
Tenali said they died at childbirth. The lender reached the court.
Tenali told the king the entire episode and said when the vessels gave birth to two vessels, the lender should have said even then that they couldn’t beget, hence he should accept the vessels were dead. Thus he won the argument.
