Old Charles loved his brown shoes. They were more than twenty years old. He found them so comfortable that he didn’t want to give them away and buy a new pair. “Why do I need new shoes? These are better than the best!” he always said. He would wear them for special occasions too. One day, Charles received an invitation from an old friend. Charles took out his old pair of shoes and what did he see! A bird had made a nest in one of the shoes and there lay four little baby birds, sleeping peacefully. Charles frowned and looked at the birds. They were s-o-o-o small. Charles felt sorry for them. He did not want to make them homeless. So he went to the market and bought a pair of new shoes.
