Largest of the tegus, these docile lizards can become your favourite pets. Its black body is covered in white stripes. In the wild they are found in tropical rainforests, savanna and semi-deserts. They are long-lived with a life span of 15 to 20 years or more. Their diet is made of small birds, reptiles’ eggs, insects and fruits.
