The trademark red, hairless face of the monkey is due to a lack of skin pigments which may have evolved after years of fighting malaria, due to which a monkey’s face turns pale. Arboreal creatures, these monkeys live high up on trees, to avoid the flooded forest grounds in rainy season. They eat seeds, fruit and even prey on animals.
