It is an edible annual plant, commonly known as salad rocket. It is one of the nutritious green leafy vegetables of Mediterranean origin. Its light green leaves appear identical to that of spinach in younger plants. Additionally, young, tender leaves feature sweet flavour, and less peppery taste in contrast to strong, spicy flavour in case of mature greens. In general, arugula grows to about 2-3 feet in height. It produces creamy-white edible flowers. Green leafy arugula is a very good source of vitamins and minerals.
