It is a perennial herb. The bloom season starts from June and ends by August. The flowers are bell-shaped, pink to white with pink stripes on the inside. Each flower has five flaring lobes that curl back. The leaves are toothless, usually hairy underneath, sometimes have slightly wavy edges, and may be drooping. The fruit is a slender long pod that ripens from green to a dull red. It is used as an alterative in rheumatism, syphilis and scrofula. The plant is also helpful in dropsies due to heart-failure.
