Many of us have seen a rainbow in the sky. But do you know how it is formed? Well, when the rain falls, the sunlight is reflected in the raindrops making an arch of seven different colours. The colours are in the order–violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red. All these colours together are called the spectrum. You can also see a rainbow at home. For this, take a mirror. Dip it in water. Then let the sunlight fall directly on it. Put a sheet of paper under the reflected light and you will see the rainbow. Or, add a few drops of oil in a basin of soapy water. The bubbles will be big or small but you will be able to see the rainbow colours in each one of them.
