Hiding Away

A baby elephant was walking along when he saw a zebra. He loved the zebra’s stripes and asked him, “Why do you have stripes?” The zebra replied, “So that I may hide in the grass. I will show you!” So, the zebra ran off into the grass. The elephant could not see the zebra. The elephant was amazed. After a while he met a giraffe. He looked at the giraffe’s pretty patches and asked, “Why are you covered in patches?” “So that I may hide,” the giraffe replied. Now, the baby elephant started feeling sad. ‘I cannot hide like them,’ he thought. He began to cry. Just then, the giraffe and the zebra came looking for him. “Where is the baby elephant?” asked the giraffe. “I cannot see him. There is just an old rock over there,” said the zebra. Suddenly, the rock began to giggle. “It is me!” called the baby elephant. “Wow! You can also hide anywhere just like that,” said the zebra. The baby elephant was very happy.
