Clouds are an important part of the water cycle. When the water on the Earth’s surface gets warm, it gets evaporated and converted into water vapour. The warm air containing the vapour rises up in the atmosphere and slowly gets cooled. The cool air gets saturated with the vapour and loses its capacity to hold excess water vapour. The vapour thus condenses on the dust particles present in the atmosphere and forms water droplets. At times the temperature in the atmosphere is so low that these droplets convert into ice crystals. Eventually, these ice crystals cluster and float in the atmosphere due to their light weight. These floating visible masses of water droplets/ice crystals are clouds.
