Only the juveniles of the zebra shark have stripes whereas the adults have leopard-like spots. This fish has longitudinal ridges on its cylindrical body and a tail almost half its body-size. They live in sandy bottoms around coral reefs and feed on worms, molluscs, crustaceans, octopuses and small fish. They reproduce oviparously and have a 5-month gestation period.
